The Bakery with a Quiet Bell

The bakery bell rang so loudly that Mouse dropped his bread every time someone opened the door.
“Perhaps you should come when it is quiet,” said Baker Bear.
“But I like choosing bread with everyone,” Mouse answered.
Bear listened to the bell. Clang! He jumped, too.
He wrapped a small piece of felt around its clapper. The next customer arrived, and the bell made a gentle ting.
“Can you still hear it?” asked Mouse.
Bear nodded. “And now I can hear you speaking.”
Mouse chose a round roll and carried it without dropping it. Outside, he met Rabbit, who had been keeping her long ears covered.
“The bell is softer now,” he told her.
Rabbit came inside. Bear set out two little chairs, and the bakery filled with quiet, happy conversation.
Moral of the Story
