Many habits fail not because we are weak, but because we set the starting bar too high.

Many habits fail not because we are weak, but because we set the starting bar too high. We plan an hour of exercise, fifty pages of reading, or a complete transformation from day one. That plan collapses on a difficult day. Five minutes, one page, or one small action is often still possible when you are tired. Consistency is built around the version you can perform even on bad days. At first, the goal is not an impressive result. The goal is to make returning so easy that one missed day does not become a permanent surrender.
