A meaningful thought
Attention is more than looking at someone or pretending to listen. It means pausing other activities long enough to show that their words have a place in your mind. We often say people matter while repeatedly checking the phone, interrupting, or preparing an answer before they finish. Those small moments communicate the opposite message. You do not always need a long conversation. Five complete minutes can be more valuable than an hour of partial presence. Attention is not only the amount of time you give. It is the quality of respect inside that time.
