A meaningful thought
When someone shares a difficulty, we often rush to offer solutions. But they may not be asking for advice. They may simply need to feel heard. One question can change the entire conversation: “Would you like me to listen, or would you like us to think about solutions together?” It respects the other person’s need and prevents unwanted advice from becoming another burden. Helping does not always mean providing an answer. Sometimes the best help is a safe space in which someone can discover their own answer.
