A meaningful thought

A real apology does not begin by explaining why the other person should not be hurt. It begins by showing that you understand what your action cost them. Say what you did, name its impact, and take responsibility without adding “but.” Then ask what repair would be meaningful and follow through over time. An apology is not a performance meant to end discomfort quickly. It is a bridge built by honesty, change, and patience.
